FROM OUR WEBMISTRESS

Hi, I am just letting you know that I had to have Clyde put to sleep on Wednesday, as you can imagine I can't talk about it just yet. but will add some thing about the reasons at a later date.

Olwen

Hi All,

This is just a quick note to tell you all how much I appreciate your kind thoughts. Of course Clyde will be missed by all the family including all the other dogs, but I will remember him mostly as my best mate and my protector. During his life he always looked after me and the kids, I know he will still be keeping an eye on us now.

My greatest achievement was being awarded the RCC at Crufts with him (thanks Gladys) and watching all his babies win in their classes. I hope to continue watching his lines in the future.

I hope to see most of you at LKA and if not there, at Crufts, Once again your kind words have meant a lot to me at this time.

Regards

Olwen

For a little more information on GSD in curlies, please have a look at this site

http://www.flairfor.com/GlycogenStorageDiseaseIIIa.html

This is a site in development that I hope can eventually be used as an informational page as well as an international database to look into which curlies have been tested for GSD.  If you have information to submit for the database, please e-mail the link on the page with your information.  The curlies currently listed on the database were included because they were 1) listed with OFA or 2) results were submitted by the owners or breeders.  I am still missing GSD numbers (found on the actual certificate from Dr. Fyfe's lab) for many dogs because they are not included on the OFA website.  If your dog is listed on the site without a GSD number, please send the number to the e-mail on the website

Thanks for putting up the link.  When I presented the seminar at the World Curly Seminar in August, it was new information for most of the international folks.  Given that all of our curlies are related, and all originated in the UK, it is something we as breeders need to at least think about.  Hopefully, by disseminating the known information, we can encourage people to test selected dogs and eliminate the disease pretty quickly.
Thanks again,
