Went to an all-breed seminar on evalutating puppy conformation this weekend. Learned a lot about how to test temperment in an eight week old pup. Three types of temperment in all puppies regardless of breed. 1. Accepting, laying pup on it's back in the crook of your arm, an accepting pup will relax and maintain eye contact with you. 2. Independant, laying pup on it's back in the crook of your arm, an independant pup will relax and not look at your face at all. 3. Fearful, laying a pup on it's back in the crook of your arm, the Fearful pup will not relax, it will cling with it's front legs and never let go, it may make eye contact but won't keep it.

It was interesting to see a litter of eleven Shorthair Pointers and how three of them demonstrated those traits.
